The team at FVR is relieved to finally release version 1.7 of our V8 Supercars mod.

99% Scratch Made

Version 1.7 is designed as an evolution to Version 1.6 (all versions). This revision has various reworked files and layout. Some new features have been added. There are also some incremental updates to the car suspension, physics and cameras (especially to fix the flickering on some tracks ..... thanks to PeterGee for the suggested values).

Version 1.7 also has custom .VEH files so that AI cars will automatically select the right skin for the track. This means that at Middle East tracks, thje relevant cars will display the alternate Middle East skins. At Bathurst and Phillip Island they will display Enduro skins. The player must manually select the relevant skin however. More custom skins will be available as they are created.

Version 1.7 Has some texture updates, lod updates and graphical updates, some AI updates.

In this version, we have utilised a number of wonderful tools to aid us in the update process. Some of those tools are Kangaloosh Car Factory, SimEd3D, and the rfactor Suspension editor. Thanks to the developers of these tools. Hopefully with these aids, users will find that Support for RealFeel is enhanced and that the vehicles behave more like a real V8 Supercar.

As always with FVRV8 files we try to give you something different on a regular basis rather than resting on our laurels. Its not for everyone and if not then so be it, delete it. We are three normal guys with normal day to day lives - we each have a job to do in the creation of FVRV8 and tracks and we try to make sure the end user has an enjoyable experience.

We'd like to thank

ISI for creating rFactor

Ferret40 - his painting efforts are appreciated - especially the countless hours

dBens1 - for countless hours on the physics, related files and making sure the new format worked.

OzAndys US Mate for allowing us to use some of his enduro skins.

Everyone that provided input at FVRFactor Forums including fault finding and stuff.

Michael Patrizi for his detailed discussion on what a V8 Supercar feels like and how it should feel. No he didn't drive this version.

The remaining V8Supercar drivers that we spoke with at Redbank Plaza during our driver signing and the drivers that provided feedback and input at Simulator Raceway Townsville and High Octane Archerfield.

V8 Supercars Australia, for bringing us a fantastic racing series, and to the teams that do their utmost to deliver high speed thrills and spills on a regular basis.

Once again thanks to everyone for their constructive feedback.

If you wish to make a donation to say thanks for all that hard work we try to do we would never say no

Do not copy, mutilate, change without written consent.

Not for public display unless authorised by FVR in writing, in other words no claiming you made it and use it at track displays.

FVR proudly presents FVRV8 2010 v1.6B

99% Scratch Made

FVRV8 2010 was started back in late December for a planned release of the 20th February 2010 to celebrate the start of the 2010 V8 Supercars Series. We undertook to give FVRV8 a major work over as try to do each year, this included all new models, skins and physics. We felt the physics needed some work and to include features that we had previously neglected to use, this is not to say it has made it harder to drive, we still feel that cars had a good feel, we just needed to improve that feel which our testers have said we have achieved. We listened to our FVR Forum users that have provided us with list of what

Important Information: The RealFeel plugin is not designed for this mod and will give a very bad feel when used with the mod e.g. pulling to the right, to gain the full feel of this mod please delete/remove realfeelplugin.dll from rfactor/plugins folder.

It is unnecessary to remove the RealFeel plugin with FVRV8_10 and most people won't want to remove the plugin for just one mod when it works with, or at least does not hamper, other mods. You can still keep it and use it for other mods with no trouble, but it needs to be disabled for FVRV8_10.

Open the RealFeel.ini file in your rFactor folder with notepad. In there you will see an entry for every car you have driven with RealFeel installed. The entry for an FVRV8 10 Holden will look like this (the numbers in your file will probably be different):

[FVRV8_10-HOLDEN]

MaxForceAtSteeringRack=-1500.000000

SteeringDamper=11500.000000

FFBMixerRealFeelPercent=0.000000

SmoothingLevel=0

For a Ford the heading will obviously be FVRV8_10-FORD.

Now the important thing is this line:

FFBMixerRealFeelPercent=0.000000

Set it just as I have it here and save the file. RealFeel will now be disabled when driving this car. You have told it that you want RealFeel to handle 0% of the FFB.

I HIGHLY recommend getting Leo's FFB plugin from rFactorCentral and install it as well. They will both work together and in that line you can assign how much of your FFB is RealFeel, and how much is Leo's. In the above instance the FFB is set to 0% RealFeel, so it will be 100% Leo's. Even in RealFeel supported mods a mix of the two is often beneficial. Besides, Leo's with a good setup feels great with this mod ;)

We will look at it, but I seriously would love someone to tell me what are the advantages of Real Feel plugin.

The biggest benefits to the end user is flexibility in customizing FFB for each car they drive, and a more accurate FFB then the one that came with rF. I am not sure of too much on the technical side of things, but I think the fact that RealFeel, not the standard ISI FFB, is what the F1 teams are using in rF Pro speaks volumes about how much more realistic it can be when tuned correctly.
