    Huttu al volante... quello vero

       (0 reviews)

Sim racers call them aliens; they're the guys out there tearing it up on the virtual racetrack with seemingly otherworldly skills. They call Gregger Huttu "the world's fastest alien." In the real world, Gregger Huttu doesn't even have a driver's license.

In an unprecedented partnership with iRacing.com and Top Gear magazine, 3 Wide Life set out to make a documentary to answer the question virtual racers have been asking for years: do virtual skills translate to the real race track? Having dominated nearly every corner of the iRacing.com universe, Huttu makes the perfect test subject, so the 30 year-old from Vassa, Finland was flown over to the United States for the first time to Atlanta, Georgia for real laps in a real race car. The World's Fastest Alien kicks off with the history and origins of sim racing and how a chance meeting between legendary sim race creator Dave Kaemer and Boston Red Sox owner John Henry led to the creation of the world's most respected virtual provider, iRacing.com.

3WL caught up with Kaemer and Huttu at the Skip Barber Racing World to get the low-down on Gregger's trip to the states. Following his seat time at Skip Barber, Gregger was thrown into his first real challenge: testing a formula Mazda car with Anderson Racing. As always, 3WL was there to catch every bit of the action as Gregger learned the ins and outs, the ups and downs, of driving an actual race car. "We weren't going to fake it," says iRacing executive producer Steve Myers. "This was a real experiment we've wanted to do for years. Now that we've finally been able to make it happen, I'm confident the results speak for themselves." This documentary will be featured as a special presentation of 3 Wide Life during this week's regularly scheduled program time. This is the first in a series of documentaries 3 Wide Life plans to produce for the upcoming season of the show. For those unable to catch the show on TV, the film will be hosted at 3widelife.com
