The TCR Europe SIM Racing, the first-ever TCR-sanctioned virtual series reserved for real drivers will kick off Saturday with a grid of twenty-five cars.
On the digital circuit of Spa-Francorchamps most of the TCR Europe Series regulars will face guest top-drivers from other TCR series, such as the 2018 European champion Mikel Azcona, Niels Langeveld and Kevin Ceccon.
All drivers, from home, will be steering digital cars in their actual liveries and representing eight different brands, while the new CUPRA Leon Competitición TCR will be available from one of the next events.
The format of the series will see competitors sitting in the simulator for a twenty-minute Qualifying session and two back-to-back races of 8 laps each. The grid of the second race will be based on the final results of Race 1 with the top 12 in reversed order.
All action will be streamed live Saturday, May 2, from 19:00 (CET) on TCR TV, TCR Facebook page, TCR Europe Facebook page, TCR Youtube channel, and delayed on TCR Twitch channel.
The scoring system will follow that of the real championship, awarding points to the top ten in the Qualifying (from 10 to 1) and the top fifteen in each race (from 40 to 1).
After Spa, the series will race at Red Bull Ring (May 13), Hungaroring (May 27), Le Castellet (June 10), Zolder (June 24), Monza (July 8 ) and Barcelona (July 22).
The series is realized by TCR Euro Series Ltd. in partnership with DrivingItalia.NET.

The TCR Europe SIM Racing series will award free tyres that will be used during the real 2020 TCR Europe Series.
At the end of each TCR Europe SIM Racing event the driver who has scored the highest number of points will receive two free Yokohama tyres that will be part of the maximum allocation of tyres that can be used in the real 2020 TCR Europe Series.
The best scorer of SIM Racing’s event 1 will use his tyres in the TCR Europe Series’ event 1, and so on, until the best scorers of SIM Racing’s events 6 and 7 will both use their tyres in the TCR Europe Series’ event 6.
Should the driver who has scored the highest number of points in a SIM Racing event not compete in the real 2020 TCR Europe Series, the two free tyres will be awarded to the best classified amongst the actual competitors of the 2020 TCR Europe Series.
Series promoter Paulo Ferreira explained: “We had this idea of linking the results of the SIM Racing series to those of the actual championship to give more spice to the project. We submitted to the teams two or three different options that would have had a limited impact on the Qualifying results or the starting grid. However, they were all rejected and the teams unanimously preferred to have two free tyres amongst those that can be used during one event. We understood and accepted their position.”
