Sono ufficialmente aperte le iscrizioni alla Le Mans Esports Series (LMES), un'iniziativa congiunta tra Motorsport Network e l'Automobile Club l’Ouest (ACO). I vincitori dell'innovativa serie esport avranno l'occasione di assicurarsi un posto sul podio della 24 Ore di Le Mans 2019 e condividere un montepremi di $100,000. L'iniziativa esport, che ricordiamo sarà disputata con Forza Motorsport 7, ha riscosso il grandissimo entusiasmo di Fernando Alonso, che ha già preannunciato la partecipazione del suo team esport FA Racing G2. Queste le parole del pilota asturiano:
"The Le Mans Esports Series will be very attractive. The platforms that you have out there are impressive.I'm happy to be an owner of a team, I'm very proud of what the guys are doing, and I think that you will have a huge success with this new adventure, a lot of people are behind it. The possibilities that Esports has are unlimited. We have probably not reached the limit yet, we will keep discovering more that can offer that platform. We will enjoy it together. Esports is a reality, it's no longer a fantasy or a game. It's a platform that works not only for gamers, but for professional drivers too. We have been using simulators for a couple of years now, learning tracks and developing cars. Now, we have a fantastic fanbase outside motor racing, they love what we do, but they do it differently. It's not better, it's not worse. It's a little bit cheaper than the real cars too."

"La serie Esports di Le Mans sarà molto interessante. Le piattaforme che ci sono là fuori sono impressionanti. Sono felice di essere proprietario di una squadra, sono molto orgoglioso di quello che stanno facendo i ragazzi, e penso che avrà un enorme successo questa nuova avventura, ci sono dietro molte persone. Le possibilità che offre l'Esports sono illimitate. Probabilmente non abbiamo ancora raggiunto il limite, continueremo a scoprire sempre di più cosa è in grado di offrire questa piattaforma. Ci divertiremo insieme. L'Esports è una realtà, non è più una fantasia o un gioco. È una piattaforma che funziona non solo per i giocatori, ma anche per i piloti professionisti. Utilizziamo simulatori da un paio d'anni, imparando le piste e sviluppando automobili. Ora, abbiamo una fantastica base di fan al di fuori delle corse automobilistiche, amano ciò che facciamo, ma lo fanno in modo diverso. Non è meglio, non è peggio. È un po 'più economico delle auto reali."
