Guest Aristotelis
Kunos never stops to work e together with him we try to give him as much help as we can. So as almost everyday, yesterday night we where doing multiplayer tests. until yesterday, the server could hold quite well the clients traffic but was accusing a serious bug in the passage from qualifying to race, loosing one or two clients in the mean time After intensive tests (and lots of fun) and hard hard work from kunos, in the end the bug is resolved! Finaly the server shows stability and accepts all clients without problems! Multiplayer action remains something very difficult to describe! The video we made cannot really show what netKar can offer in multiplayer. Race starts with 5 cars arriving at T1 of newbury, all very very close doing the turn almost 5 wide! Some light collisions here and there between the cars but NO lag and all collisions PERFECT! Of course it remains the "bug/feature" of the rear end bump, but I have to say here that after the first races one has no fear to go really close to his opponent, because the positions are ABSOLUT! there is no "papy" feeling of "it might be there or a bit closer or not?". With netKar the stability is total and permits some very close racing. It is even possibile to only "touch" the opponent without problems. I'd like to point out the the host server was kunos PC with ADSL in UK while all clients where in Italy with 56k, isdn and adsl connections. Pings good from 100 to 280 Another important issue. kunos yesterday released the first standalone server to me. Everything is configured by a small .ini file for the moment but it's really easy to adjust. Various options like multiple class cars races, limit of number of laps to qualify, minimum laps in order to qualify ecc ecc are really cool and usefull. Everything works perfectly and I haven't found any bugs or problems with its funzionality In the next days we are going to try a server meltdown and see how many clients a normal adsl can hold. I'm sorry to not have any screenshot to show you from yesterday session...but the entusiasm was very high and great fun...so I forgot to took screenies
