max, I fully understand and respect kunos and his work for netKar. It is all for free and we should not complain, but be happy and respectful that he wants to share this with us.

You can inform Italians about this system, no problem!

About your question: yes, this is possible, but it is not (yet) possible to make this truly realtime. This has a very simple reason: there is no data on where each car is racing in realtime. This happens only once a lap (when a car crosses s/f). Of course I could make a 'sort of accurate' system that calculates the average laptime of a driver and maps that on the track... and updates any difference with this when the driver hits s/f again.

However, I think it would be much more valuable to have realtime video/audio coverage in a small window on a site. I already experimented with this and got a live-stream from nK on a website in reality. However, you'll need a lot of bandwidth to do this and that's what I'm lacking. Technically, it is all possible.

cool.

To be clear I was talking about a system that trought a connection of a car in game takes the posiotion of the other cars, not trought the server.. maybe if knuos gives some advices.....

we tried alreaty do make a real time video for netkar... the better think would to have an a outside streaming server that takes the stream from a source ad gives it to the others... I have tried with my 256kb upload line the video was great at 160*120 with average audio, but just for 1 player.... if we could find a server that redistribute the video....

ok now I start to translate your post biggrin.gif

I'm sure people will be intrested in ypur system.

ok, max!

Yes, to have realtime positions of the car mapped on a trackmap we need to have access to the car-position (in xy parameters) on the track. This information is not currently provided by nK as far as I know.

About the video. In my opinion it would be best to have one client, who has a great connection, that basically hosts the webcam only (and does not compete in the race). The host of the race should not provide the live-stream since it would just take too much bandwidth.

I'm interested in the opinions of your fellow Italians gun.gifeclipsee_steering.gif I can put a prototype of the system online pretty soon so you could check it out.

I also want netKar to gain in terms of fanbase, users and visibility in the simracingworld as I really believe in this sim. With experience we have in organising leagues and championship, I think that professional league organisations for netKar could be available pretty soon. This could really improve the community-base and promotion of the sim.

Just a question, but if that is the case, how do remote clients know when a collision occurs between cars?

If it would be possible to get realtime car coordinates from nK then a collission in which cars retire will simply mean that the coordinates won't change anymore (or that the car is transferred back to pit).

The whole point is that this info is not provided by nK so it's impossible. The LiveTracker with live results of running session is reality though. I put in quite some work this weekend and it's again a big step towards becoming complete.

Your work sounds fantastic Jaap happy204.gif

Ill make a post over at RSC about it, as i know there are people looking for/looking forward to entering online races/championships etc.

The nK fanbase is there and growing, it's just quiet at the moment reflecting the lack of info from the devs. Outrunner's recent release of the Mountain Sprint track seems to have stirred up a bit of interest again as well smile.gif

I try my best to pass on anything from here over to there (it is as far as i know the biggest collection nK fanbase for the UK).

Be sure once the new version is released there will be a BIG show of interest from a lot of different places.

Regards,

Simon smile.gif

That sounds awesome.

Jaap, do you think you could interface with another program?

I could do memory-hunts for the local position and this could be transported to the info-relay and mapped to the screen.

As the starting positions are given in the track files it should not be too hard to find them.

As this may spur another yet another "nK-hacking-projectquitting" debate, so I want to emphasize that it's read-only and nK's operation is not altered in any way.

This could be extended into a complete pit package, transmitting gear, RPM, perhaps tyre temps.

Will fool around a bit these days.

Hi guys.

I found here recently.

These are current status of nkDaemon and nkTracker.

nkDaemon

- .NET Framework is not need any longer.

- Supports Windows 98/Me/2000/XP

- Multi language support was abandoned. (English and Japanese will be included)

- Anti cheat/crack (under work)

- Improved network implements (under work)

nkTracker

- User account

- Records best qualifying lap and all race laps.

- Shows all race results. (includes the qualifying results, the race results, the lap chart in the race)

- Shows track records and hotlap ranking (only qualifying lap) (under work)

- Shows driver's statistics (victories rate, complete running rate, average pos, etc) (under work)

Although Jaap's system may become very alike partly to mine,

I expect his system brings big progress to the multi-play of netKar. smile.gif

Thanks.

Hello Palmer!

Wow, that is great stuff. Indeed, nkTracker will have similar features as my nK LiveResults system. I did not know that you had these features in mind and in the end I think it is only good for nK.

We could also try to work together to see what we can do in a combined way? I have written many functions already and maybe we can integrate this.

How on earth are you recording the race laps of the race (or don't you save the laptimes itself?), Palmer? I can't find where nK stores this information.

This is only good news, palmer. Your nkDeamon/nkTracker system is just fabulous and motivated me to work on a nK system as well. The difference between your system and the one I'm working on is I think that your system is for ALL nK players and providers a community-wide perspective (sort of a global view on what times are driven and what performances are recorded).

My system will be a system targetted on specific championships, with a limited numbers of drivers. Championships with multiple leagues are supported, where drivers can automatically promote and relegate to and from leagues after several events (all configurable). Basically my goal is to create a system that a league-organizer can download, install and configure to host his own championship.. for example a 360Challenge, a F3000-championship or whatever other championship.

My system is compatible and is designed to work together with nkDeamon (it uses race.ini for example). I designed the system to let the events be hosted using nkDeamon, simply because it's the best out there and I thought that it is just great that the results are also ported to nkTracker. So in fact I'm supporting nkTracker as much as I can. We're all doing it for the nK community smile.gif

The system (nK LiveResults, if you have a better name in mind... please post it asd.gif) is currently being tested and under further development (allowing user registration and system management by championship admins).

Let's keep contact, palmer .. all to make the best sim even more enjoyable for its users and future users smile.gif
