I cant get my server configured properly. I CAN manage to get my server appear on the TRACKER page, but I dont recognise the IP address it displays. Its not the IP for my PC, and when I try to connect to it nothing happens - it never connects.

- I have winxp with the .NET installed.

- I have a small network (2 PCs peer-peer) and i have the server running on the PC which has the direct connection to the internet (CABLE modem broadband)

- I CAN conect ok to server servers on the list.

- I have the NETKAR game and the server&configurator in the same folder.

- I have NKDEAMON running in a seperate folder.

- All i'm doing is launching the nkdeamon, setting it up, and pressing GO

- when the server starts up the last item on the list it displays is an IP address which is the IP for my LAN, *NOT* the ip for my internet connection????????

cant think of any other useful info.....

Anybody have any ideas????

Many thanks

ok - i've worked out that 80.5.160.7 is the IP for NKdeamon server. Now question is - why cant I connect to this IP/server from the same PC the serer is running from.

No error msgs - and i'm not running a firewall.

pls help

Thought I'd try hosting ...

Just want to host my NZ friend...

the pings to Europe are too high

downloaded the nKserver...

plugin appears no trouble...wow this is slick

Trying to figure out which number in the black info screen is my IP...

is it the one on the address line ?

or is it the one down the bottom after maxvalidlaps ?

Ok so when I have nKserver going ,

how do I join the race?

Do i start multiplayer and connect to my own IP??

oh and what should my 'send time ' be?

dialup here

Hope they get a setup like VROC going

cheers

Pete

try this site: http://risingsun.hmc5.com/nk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=109

i'm not sure how NKserver works - but NKDEAMON works ok, so long as you dont have a CATV ISP connection (internet via cable - tv link)

also - if you use the NKserver configuratir - it runs the server for you and tells you what the IP address is to connect to.

I haven't fully figured it out yet, but try that link i posted...

Thanks Zarker,

I figured out I needed to join my own server to race smile.gif

Only managed a very short host before people get dumped...

changed ms send time and yet to check...

I haven't tried the daemon yet

Hy boyz,

sorry to be of no help, but I think I'm in worse conditions: not only I don't understand how to configure the nkServer, but I don't understand how to connect and view active races in the multiplayer pane list. I tryed nkDaemon, but it not even starts (it gives en error message).

Someone knows the correct procedure?
